2015 - December Bulletin Message

Brethren,

What an amazing year we had, WB Allred you are going to be one tough act to follow for sure! Being elected and installed as Worshipful Master is a true honor, and I am humbled and excited to serve the Brethren of Genoa Lodge.

I am truly excited for this upcoming year for our Lodge! As we come running out of the gates, we have an exciting, and busy year planned ahead for 2016. We will be focusing on the following for the upcoming year... Open communication amongst all the Brethren, making our Stated Meetings meaningful and disbursing Masonic Light, and continuing the beautiful traditions of reaching out to the community. Throughout this upcoming year, we have 8 Presentations / Guest Speakers scheduled, Community and Special Olympics Fundraisers, multiple recognition/honor dinners, Father-Son/Grandson and Father-Daughter/Grand Daughter dinner and many other events....

We have 2 events going on in the Month of December within our Lodge for you to put on your calendar... At our second Stated Meeting on Tuesday 12/15 we will have a dinner at 6:30pm for you and a guest at NO COST, donations only, and we will have our first Guest Speaker of the year RWB Russell Herner. He will do a presentation, and have his newly published book “Cathedrals Built by the Masons” available. This will be one meeting you don't want to miss. He will be traveling from the 16th district. We will go to refreshment and allow non-masons, and/or your spouse to attend. Also on Saturday 12/19 from 7:00am – 11:00am, we will have our First Annual Breakfast with Santa fundraiser for The Ohio Special Olympics in our newly remodeled fellowship hall. Cost for all-you-can-eat pancakes, with sausage, eggs, juice and coffee is ONLY $6.00. Contact any of your officers for a discount card for $5.00 for you and your family. All the proceeds will be donated to The Ohio Special Olympics! PLEASE attend, bring your family, kids, and grand kids to meet SANTA and spread the word, so we can make this fund-raising event a success!

There are many additional ways to keep informed about whats going on in YOUR Lodge in conjunction with the Masonic Bulletin. If you have access to a computer and you use email, you will receive by-monthly email updates of upcoming events. You can email the Lodge at GenoaLodge433@gmail.com with any questions, check out our Facebook Page on www.FaceBook.com (Genoa Lodge #433 F&AM Genoa Ohio), or look for updates on the calendar link on our website atwww.GenoaLodge433.com for upcoming events. If you are able to communicate via these avenues, please do so, this will keep you up to date of events at no cost to our Lodge.

You can also call the Lodge phone system anytime at 419-836-0500 and hear the Lodges updates and leave a message. This broadcast will be updated by-monthly by myself, so please use this service to keep in the loop.

Once again I want to thank all of the officers from last year for all your hard work, and for an amazing year. I also want to congratulate all of Genoa's installed Elected and Appointed Officers, and with your help, we will continue to make Genoa Lodge a place we are honored to call home!

Fraternally,

WB Jeffrey Sime

2016 - January Bulletin Message

Brethren, I hope you all had a safe and Happy Holiday!

The Brethren of Genoa Lodge have been quite busy this month, volunteering to help raise funds for the Salvation Army at Millers Market, and putting on our first community/fund raising event for The Ohio Special Olympics - Breakfast With Santa!  These events couldn't have been a success without your help; I can't thank all of you enough for your help and support.  It's important that we reach out to our community, and raising some much needed funds for these amazing organizations is a very important part of being a member of our Fraternity.

Please keep this Bulletin handy so you can stay informed about the upcoming events within our Lodge, as we have many events and speakers scheduled throughout this upcoming year.  Over the next Month, you will be receiving a phone call from one of your Officers, who will be reaching out to you, gathering and conveying some very important information.  It's important that we as Officers, who serve you, keep the line of communication active and keep in touch with you on a current basis. For those Brethren who have email, please check them on a weekly basis, as this is a cost effective service to provide you with information throughout the Month as well.

If you have any questions in regard to what current events are coming up, please call 419-836-0500 and listen to the weekly updated message, or leave a message for myself, or MWB Murphy via this system.  We additionally have a website www.GenoaLodge433.com, which is a great place to see pictures throughout the year, and find information regarding current events within the Lodge.

A few upcoming events for the Month of January to put on your calendar: on Saturday January 2nd 2016 at 4:00pm, our Lodge will be hosting MWB Murphy's installation as Potentate of the Zenobia Shrine at the Shrine Temple - 8048 Broadstone Rd, Perrysburg, OH 43551.  Brethren, MWB Murphy is the 2nd Brother in our Lodge's history who will hold this great honor, and we need your help in supporting him.  Please arrive by 3:30pm, and be there to lend a hand, shake hands, and greet all the guests.

On our First Stated Meeting on 01/05/16, we will have a Veterans and Military Spaghetti Dinner, with Awards at 6:30pm (free of charge) to honor our Brothers of Genoa Lodge who are true heroes.  Please come and enjoy a delicious meal and fellowship with these well deserving Brothers.

Finally, at our Second Stated Meeting, Tuesday 01/19/16, we will have another great guest speaker - WB Duane Kemerley presenting an informative evening discussing “Secrets of the Temple Mount.”  WB Kemerley is a wonderful and informative speaker, you might recognize him from his leadership and educational courses on FreemasonUniversity.com!  A dinner will also be provided free of charge prior at 6:30pm, this will be an event you don't want to miss!

Brethren, I look forward to seeing you at these events, and have a safe and wonderful Holiday Season. Please keep our Distressed Brethren and those serving our Country in your prayers.

Fraternally,

WB Jeffrey M. Sime

2015 - January Bulletin Message

Brethren,

I hope everyone had a happy New Year!  We are going to be extremely busy the next couple of months.

We have several petitions in the works, and will need to get some Fellow Craft degrees done this month to prepare for our Master Mason Inspection in February.  At our first Stated Meeting in January, we will have guests from Ottawa Chapter, Order of DeMolay, portraying the dramatic section of the DeMolay degree.  These guys do an awesome job, so please make every effort to come to see them.  Brother Seckinger will be making chili, and we will eat at 6:30.  This is open to all Masons in this district (or elsewhere!).

I am calling a special meeting on January 13th for degree work.  I'm not sure what degree we'll be doing yet, but count on being there.  Likely, at our second meeting in January, we will be doing degree work as well, and we may also have to call a special meeting on January 27th, depending on how well we've done.  Having this many candidates right off the bat is a good problem to have, Brothers!  Let's keep those petitions coming!

Fraternally,

Mark Allred
Worshipful Master

2015 - February Bulletin Message

Brethren,

We have a busy month ahead of us.  We currently have 4 working candidates, with the possibility of a few more coming in, so we will be busy doing degree work for most of the month.

At our first stated meeting of February, we will hopefully have a couple of candidates giving their Fellowcraft examinations in preparation for our Inspection.  Inspection will be Tuesday, February 10th.  Dinner will start at 6:00pm and the Inspection will start at 7:00 and will be in the Master Mason degree.  We will need all the help we can get, so if you're available to do a part in the degree, please contact me or Brother John Niefer.  We have a couple of speaking parts, as well as some walking parts that need to be filled.

At our second stated meeting, we will be doing degree work as well, either FC or MM, depending on how far some of our candidates have gone.  Please keep the 24th open for possible degree work as well.  I would like to have all 4 of our candidates through all of their degrees by the beginning of March, as we will probably have some more candidates coming in, and we'll start their degrees after Inspection.  PLEASE get out and travel during this inspection season and support the great Lodges of the 11th Masonic District.  As always, keep our sick and distressed in your prayers.

Fraternally,

Mark Allred

2015 - March Bulletin Message

Brethren,

Thank you SO much to everyone who had a hand in making our Inspection so successful!  It was a very enjoyable evening, and our candidate was very impressed with the attendance as well as the degree work.

We've got another busy month ahead of us!  At our first stated meeting on March 3rd, we will have our third of five educational programs.  This time, we welcome Brother Mark Harris who will give us an interesting and informative presentation on the Ohio Masonic Home.  Dinner will be served at 6:30, followed by our Stated Meeting and presentation at 7:30.

At our second Stated Meeting on March 17th, we will have two Entered Apprentice candidates that evening.  Brother Sime will again preside over that meeting.  Officers, please wear tuxedoes.  We'll have special St. Patrick's Day themed bow ties for the officers to wear.

We may also need to call a special meeting for Tuesday, March 24th for a Fellowcraft degree on one other candidate.  Keep those petitions coming so we can have a busy year!  And, as always, get out there and travel to support the awesome Lodges in the 11th District on their Inspection nights.

Finally, keep our sick and distressed Brothers in your thoughts and prayers.

2015 - April Bulletin Message

Brethren,

Spring is almost here, and I can already hear Pemberville's three-legged chicken calling my name.

We have yet another busy month ahead of us.  We have three candidates working through their degrees, and we'll be busy the next couple of months trying to get them finished up.  We'll likely be doing some degree work at both of our stated meetings, but I can't say for sure right now what degree or degrees we'll be doing; we'll just have to see how well our candidates progress.  We may have to call some specials for degree work as well, but NOT on the 14th of April.  We'll all be visiting with WB Tom Cavendish and his chickens.

I'd like to congratulate Brothers Kevin McComas and Ernie McCarthy on being installed as Stewards of Genoa Lodge!  We're happy to have these two hardworking Masons in our officer line.

The Grand Master's Reception will be held on Saturday, March 11th at Central Park West in Toledo.  I would love to see the room packed with Genoa guys!  As always, keep our sick and distressed Brethren in your prayers.

2015 - May Bulletin Message

Brethren,

Summer is getting closer, the weather is becoming nicer, and everyone is getting out and enjoying it.  But, don't forget about your Brothers at the Lodge!  We've still got several candidates in the pipeline, and we've still got petitions coming in.

Our first stated meeting for the month of May (May 5th) will include the fourth of five planned educational speakers.  This time, we have WB Steve Hessler, DEO of the 16th Masonic District coming in to speak about the multiple meanings of the symbols used in the Master Mason degree.  This meeting will be open to all Master Masons, and Brothers from outside of Genoa Lodge are always welcome.  We will have dinner at 6:30, and the meeting will follow at 7:30.

Our second stated meeting on the 19th will likely be degree work on one or more candidates.  Finally, May 26th is our annual Past Masters Master Mason Degree.  Our Past Masters will be assuming the stations for the degree and conferring it on one candidate.  The meeting will start at 7:00, so please come out and support our newest Master Mason!

As always, keep our sick and distressed in your prayers.

2015 - Summer Bulletin Message

Brethren,

We are getting ever closer to summer, and we still have so much to do!  We can expect some degree work throughout the month, even though it's going to be warm in the Lodge!  At our first stated meeting June 2nd, I would like to do the Entered Apprentice degree on one candidate.  At our second stated meeting on the 16th, I've planned for a Master Mason degree.  I know it's going to be warm, but lose the jacket and loosen the tie and help us raise a new Master Mason!

Also, we'll be getting new plans for the next phase of our renovations, and we plan on doing them over the summer (if approved by the Lodge).  We'll need some help, so if you are interested, please contact our Senior Warden, Brother Sime, and let him know.  We'll likely need some help with demolition, installing flooring and ceiling, and the usual painting and touching up.  For those who are active with our youth organizations, please keep these renovations in mind as you continue to meet over the summer.  It may be under construction for a few weeks.

As always, keep our sick and distressed in your thoughts and prayers.

Fraternally,

2015 - September Bulletin Message

Brethren,

I hope everyone's summer was enjoyable!  It's time to get rolling on Lodge events again and we'd love to have your support this month.  Our first stated meeting will be Tuesday, September 1st.  This will be our fifth and final big educational program.  This time, we will have members of the 8th Capitular District putting on the Peculiar Stone Skit and talking a bit about Royal Arch Masonry.  Whether you're a member of Chapter already or you're interested in learning more, we'd love to have you come see this skit.  We will have a dinner at 6:30 and our meeting will start at 7:30.  This event is open to all Masons.

We will have a special meeting on Tuesday, September 8th at 7:00 to confer the Entered Apprentice Degree on one candidate.  This is a move-up night for all officers to give them some practice for the eventual EA Inspection in the new year.  All officers should be prepared to move up for the opening/closing and the ritual work.  Come out and support our newest candidate!

Our second stated meeting is Tuesday, September 15th at 7:30pm.  I will be appointing all of our auditing committees as well as our Temple Company nominating committee so they can get a jump start on taking care of these items for our Annual Meeting in November.  Also, keep September 22nd open in your calendars.  We may need to call a Special Meeting for degree work on that day as well.  See you at Lodge soon!

2015 - October Bulletin Message

Brethren,

What an amazing and busy year we’ve had!  We have been busy transforming our Lodge into the most beautiful building in Genoa, raising multiple Brothers to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason, and enjoying the numerous educational programs conducted by WB Allred.  I want to personally thank WB Allred for your tireless devotion to the Craft and our Lodge, and allowing me to step in and write October’s Bulletin update.

Our officers have had a busy year, especially our Junior and Senior Stewards preparing those wonderful meals throughout the year, and bringing a much needed fresh new look to our kitchen!  Brother Senior Steward McComas spent many hours raising funds by selling onions and installing our new sink in the kitchen….  WE THANK BOTH OF YOU!

Also, I would like to recognize a true hero among us at Genoa Lodge.  Our very own Past Master, WB Taylor in late July was recognized as one of three individuals for his quick thinking and heroic acts by going in and saving the lives of 2 youngsters from the raging waters of the Portage River.  WB Taylor, your courage and character truly portrays what Masonry is all about, and we applaud you!

As we approach our 150th Birthday of Genoa Lodge #433 in 2019, our goal for having the renovations complete is drawing near, and we have much work ahead of us.  I am confident that with your support we will meet this deadline and preserve the future and welfare of Genoa Lodge #433!  I thank each and every Brother who voted in moving forward with our renovations, and those who have contributed endless hours in the capacity that they were able to over these past few years.  We sure have something to be proud of by accomplishing what we have with our limited funds.

You all should have received your dues notice from our “Secretary-in-training” by now.  Please make every effort to return them in a timely manner, as our Annual Meeting and Officer elections on November 3rd at 7:30pm is approaching soon, and as you know, our traditional Oyster Stew is awaiting!  Please also put the following Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00pm (Dinner at 6:00pm) on your schedule as well, as we will have a Special Meeting open to the public for our Officer Installation and Service Awards.  The rumor is that a certain Grand Lodge Officer will have a major role in this event, so please bring along your significant other, or a friend (non Mason) to this unforgettable evening!

As a reminder, for our Brethren who haven’t been able to attend Lodge regularly due to difficulties traveling, PLEASE call any of your Officers.  We would LOVE to assist and enjoy the fellowship with some Brothers whom we haven’t seen in a while!  You can call the Lodge phone system anytime at 419-836-0500 and hear the Master’s updates and leave a message.  If you have access to a computer, email the Lodge at GenoaLodge433@gmail.com, check out our Facebook Page onwww.FaceBook.com  (Genoa Lodge #433 F&AM Genoa Ohio), or look for updates on the calendar link on our website at www.GenoaLodge433.com for upcoming events.

Finally in closing Brethren, thanks again for your support in moving our Lodge in a forward direction, and PLEASE keep our Brethren who are struggling medically or emotionally in your prayers.  As our wise Brother Benjamin Franklin once said… “Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.”

Fraternally,

Brother Jeffrey Sime - SW

2015 - November Bulletin Message

Brethren,

As our 2015 Masonic Year winds down, we sure have something to be proud of!   In September, our Lodge was recognized for not 1, but 2 distinguished Awards given out at this year's Annual District Awards Night for the Illustrious 11th District.  We were the recipient of the Reynolds Raiders Team Work Award, as well as the Deputies Distinction Award (recognized as the first place Lodge in the District!).  I'm so proud of all the Brethren of our Lodge for working so hard this year!

As a reminder, you all should have received your dues notice from our “Secretary-in-training” by now.  Please make every effort to return them in a timely manner, as per our By-Laws, you must have paid your dues prior to our Annual Meeting in order to vote for your 2015-2016 Officers.  Our Annual Meeting is approaching, and is on our first Stated Meeting in November, on Tuesday November 3rd, at 7:30pm.  We've had a tradition of serving an Oyster Stew since the late 1800's, so come hungry prior and enjoy!  I advise all that can attend to please do so, as we will have our Annual Reports read.  We have a busy year planned for the 2015-2016 Masonic year, with events/programs scheduled for just about every Month of the year, so a calendar for these upcoming events will be handed out to help you keep track of what's going on within YOUR Lodge.

We will have a Special Meeting open to the public for our Annual Officer Installation and Service Awards on the following Tuesday November 10th at 7:00pm.  Please put this date on your schedule as well (Dinner will be served at 6:00pm, provided free of cost, donations will be graciously accepted).  Come early, bring along your significant other, or a friend (non Mason) to this unforgettable evening.  We are anticipating a large turnout this evening, as a certain Grand Lodge Officer will have a major role in this evenings activities!

Also, on Thursday November 5th at 7:00pm at the Zenobia Shriners Building in Perrysburg OH, our District's Annual Meeting and Election with Installation of Officers will take place.  It would be great to have a large Genoa turnout that evening, as we anticipate the election and installation of one of our own as the District President.

In closing my Brethren, under the leadership of WB Allred this past year, we have accomplished many amazing things throughout the year, and I want to personally thank you again WB Allred for all your dedication to our Lodge and the Craft.  Our Lodge wouldn't be who we are without all of our Brethren as well, and am so proud to be a member of OUR Lodge.

If you have access to a computer, email the Lodge at www.genoalodge433.com with any questions, check out our Facebook Page on www.facebook.com (Genoa Lodge #433 F&AM Genoa Ohio), or look for updates on the calendar link on our website at www.genoalodge433.com for upcoming events.

2013 - December Bulletin Message

Greetings Brethren,

With pleasure and excitement I can announce that Genoa Lodges Annual Installation of Officers and Service Awards presentation was held and completed with tremendous success.  I would like to thank all the brethren and their families who came out and supported Genoa Lodge and their newly elected and
appointed officers.

I would like to congratulate all the new officers and the service award recipients!  Brother Johnson Irwin, who is Genoa Lodges oldest living member, was in attendance to receive his 65 year pin and certificate from
Right Worshipful Brother Bowlick on behalf of the Grand Master.  The excitement in the room really gave the
officers the motivation and drive to hopefully have a successful year.

Our next stated meeting will be on Tuesday, November 20th at 7:30pm.  There will be no degree work so Tuxedos will not be required of the officers.  On December 14th, 2013 at 8:00am will be the District Table Lodge held at the Zenobia Shrine Center.  Genoa lodge will be providing breakfast and will also be opening the Table Lodge.

As we approach the winter months, please take extra care and caution while driving and I look forward to seeing the brethren and visitors at the next meeting.

2014 - January Bulletin Message

Greetings Brethren,

I hope everyone and their families enjoyed the joyous holidays! This past month,
the officers of Genoa Lodge had the honor of hosting the District Table Lodge
for Most Worshipful Brother Mick at the Zenobia Shrine Center. I truly believe
that the officers of Genoa Lodge have made its members proud!
Once again, inspection season is upon us and I look forward to seeing as many brothers as I
can during this exciting time for all the lodges in this illustrious district.
It has becomea well liked tradition that the members of Genoa Lodge head on over to
Pemberville to support them for their inspection. Genoa Lodge has been
issued a dispensation from the Grand Master allowing us to move up our meeting
time and then head on over to Pemberville to partake in their traditional
3-legged chicken dinner. I look forward to seeing how many Genoa brethren we can
get to go over. The traveling gavel is always nice to bring home!
Also this month we will be inspected in the Fellowcraft Degree. Once again, as winter is
definitely upon us, please drive safely and enjoy every opportunity to experience
the wonderful things that this great fraternity has to offer!

Important dates to remember:

Tuesday, January 7th - Genoa Lodge stated meeting starting at 5:00pm and then
immediately after, driving over to Pemberville Lodge for their inspection.

Tuesday, January 14th - Genoa Lodge inspection in the Fellow Craft Degree.
There will be a dinner at 6pm and the degree work will start promptly at 7pm.

Tuesday, January 21st - Stated Meeting at 7:30pm

2014 - February Bulletin Message

Greetings brethren,

I hope everyone is having safe travels going to and from the various inspections
in our area. I can happily report that Genoa lodge and it's officers have been
very busy. Due to weather, Genoa Lodge hosted the first inspection this season in
the 11th Masonic District. I would like to thank everyone who came out and
supported the brethren and officers for their inspection. The officers have sure
made me proud and I feel we had an excellent inspection! Other than the various
inspections coming up, there aren't any important dates to remember this month.
By the next issue, I hope to have a date set for a friendship night/open house put on by
either the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo or the Zenobia Shrine. As always our
meetings are on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm. If you haven't
been to lodge lately, I encourage you to come on out and experience the exciting
things that are happening with our fraternity!

Fraternally,

Tim Williams
Worshipful Master

2014 - March Bulletin Message

Greetings Brethren,

I hope everyone is looking forward to the upcoming spring and leaving this horrible winter behind us!

I would like to applaud the young men of Ottawa Chapter Order of DeMolay on their recent inspection.  For those that are unaware, the Order of DeMolay is a Masonic youth organization meant for young men between the ages of 12 and 21.  The current leadership of the chapter consisting of Curtis Buser as the Master Councilor and brother Dad Allred have the chapter moving in a very positive direction.  With our (Blue lodge) guidance, these young men will grow to be successful and productive members of society, not to mention fantastic Blue Lodge candidates!  If you are aware of a young man that could benefit by being a member or find that you yourself would love to help support the chapter, please contact myself or brother Mark Allred or MWB Murphy.

As always, I encourage the brethren of Genoa Lodge to travel and help support the other lodges by attending their inspections.

Fraternally,

Tim Williams

Worshipful Master

Greetings Brethren,

I am pleased to announce that during this last month, the brethren of Genoa Lodge had received the Traveling Gavel Award while attending Pemberville Lodge’s inspection!  I would like to thank all the brothers for traveling and helping out Genoa display their proud support of one of our neighboring lodges!

This month we will be scheduling our degree work to get our mandatory degrees accomplished, which is to put on all three degrees, twice.  If you haven’t been to lodge in a while, I myself, along with the officers, would love to welcome you.  If nothing else, it is always enjoyable to see great degree work.

Also this month, there are some exciting things happening around the District, including the Grand Masters One Day Class, the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo reunion and also the opportunity of supporting the widows of our dear deceased brethren at the Maundy Service.  If you would like more additional information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with myself or any of the other lodge officers.

2014 - May Bulletin Message

Greetings Brethren,

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful springtime weather!

I would like to start by saying thank you to all the Genoa Lodge brethren who were able to do a little traveling and make it to some of the Blue Lodge inspections.  We had a record breaking winter and I know that doing this was no easy task.  The positive representation that these brethren have shown on behalf of Genoa Lodge is well appreciated by myself and of the officers.

I would also like to thank the members and their families who joined us at this years Grand Master's Reception.  The turnout was very impressive along with the expected food and fellowship.

Some projects that the lodge will be undergoing very quickly include finishing the remodeling on the front side of our building.  If you have any ideas and suggestions that will benefit the project, we would love to hear them!

As always, please travel safe and I look forward to seeing you at lodge,

Fraternally,

Tim Williams

2014 - Summer Bulletin Message

Greetings Brethren,

I hope everyone is doing well and getting their much needed work done inside and outside of the house!

I would like to start by saying thanking you to Right Worshipful Brother Bowlick who took the time and made the trip to help present a service to award to Genoa’s 65 year member, WB Robert G. Widmer.  A handful of officers were there as well to share in the excitement.

Some major progress on the front of our building has commenced within the last month.  I can't thank the members enough for coming out and not only being supportive, but lending a hand to the beautification committee to help get things done.  In a relatively short amount of time, I believe that the members of Genoa Lodge will have one of the best looking buildings in town, and that is something to be proud of!

A tentative date has been scheduled in September for the Past Master Degree.  I’ll be calling all the Past Masters by seniority and whichever part you would like to take in the degree can be arranged.

As always, if you have not been to lodge in awhile, we would love to see you and show you some of the exciting things being done with the building,

Fraternally,

Tim Williams, Worshipful Master

2013 - September Bulletin Message

Hello, Brothers.

Summer has come and gone so quickly once again.  We've seen summer weather like we haven't seen since Mt St Helen hazed our skies in 1980!

We voted to remove the aluminum facade from the front of our building at the last meeting in June.  The project hasn't started yet, as we need to turn our proposal in to the Village Administrator for review.  Then things will start to come down and the new look/original look of Genoa Lodge will grace the Historic District once again.

Watch out for kids getting on & off the bus.  "Learning Hats" is the theme for September.  One of my main focuses is "NEVER stop learning."  Make yourself a promise starting this school year to Learn something New!!  A Computer Class, Language Class, Art Class or Masonic Education.  One of America's greatest resources is FREE Public Libraries.

To all our sick and shut-ins, May the Great Architect of the Universe Shine His Light on YOU!   :O)

Hi Brothers,

As of this writing the Aluminum Façade is scheduled to come down off the face of our building this coming weekend Saturday, September 14th.  Come out and see the new/old look of Genoa Lodge.  We are planning  on restoring the block on the bottom to a stucco/drivet earth tone look and power washing the original brick work.  There will also be a stainless steel 3 - foot Square & Compasses overtop of the double hung windows. The officers will be selling hamburgers & hotdogs at the Grand Rapids Apple Butter Fest in October to offset the cost of the project.

The line officers are ready to serve and to perform Degree Work, so lets get some Petitions with signatures on them turned in.

A BIG CONGRATS to MWB Charles Murphy on becoming the new Governor of Demolays.  Thank you to Brother Ted Korn for many years of service.

2013 - November Bulletin Message

Greetings Brethren!

This is not only an exciting time for the lodges in our Illustrious District, but for all the lodges around this beautiful state of ours. This is the time of year when the Masters of their lodges are bringing their term to a close and the newly elected and appointed officers are gearing up for the next twelve months!

I would like to say thank you to our outgoing Worshipful Master James Taylor. Jim was a vital part in the last year, along with his enthusiastic officers, on starting the renovations to Genoa Lodge. There is a long and expensive road ahead of us yet, but because of Worshipful Brother Taylor, the ball is definitely moving in the right direction!

I myself, if elected, am very excited to work with the newly elected and appointed brethren of Genoa Lodge. For the first time in my own Masonic career, we have a progressive line with no Past Masters filling in the seats. Genoa has a very young and enthusiastic officer line, and I am privileged to be working with such young dedicated members of the craft. Some important dates to remember:

November 5th, 2013 at 7:30pm will be Genoa's annual meeting and election of officers, with our traditional oyster stew after the meeting.

November 12th, 2013 will be Genoa's installation and annual service awards night. There will be a fantastic dinner catered before hand at 6:00pm with the installation of officers starting promptly at 7:00pm. I encourage all to attend along with their friends and families. Please come out and support the brethren of Genoa Lodge! Reservations for the dinner on the 12th can be made to myself.

I wish all the lodges and their new officers safe travels and nothing but continued success for the ensuing year!

Fraternally,

Tim Williams
Senior Warden

2012 - November Bulletin Message

Brethren:

As I write Genoa’s last bulletin article, I wish to thank the officers and brethren for the unlimited cooperation they have shared with me during my year in the East.  Together we have acted on six petitions and introduced these candidates into Freemasonry.

On Tuesday, November 6th following our annual meeting and election officers, refreshments will include our traditional oyster stew.

As members will recall I introduced “Soup and Sandwich” before each stated meeting from January thru May.  Thanks go to Brother and Chef, Richard Henry for providing a variety of his delicious homemade soups.

At the 11th District Award Banquet, Genoa Lodge received three awards.  Brother Senior Deacon, Mark Allred received the “Rookie of the Year Award."  Additionally, Genoa Lodge received the Deputies Distinction Award.  Finally, the District Deputy Grand Masters announced that Genoa is the only lodge in the 11th District to qualify for the Grand Master’s Award this year, which will be presented at the annual Grand Lodge Session.

All brothers must be doing well, as I have not heard of anyone who is ill or in need of help.  If you should hear of any brother who is sick or in distress, please call me at 419-654-5660 or email me at Loleta.Harrington@utoledo.edu.
